Charter of Atelier Mae

A charter and code to underpin our community activities

  • Be at least 18 years old.

  • The carpets, tatami mats, and suspension structures left available in the space are the exclusive property of Atelier Mae.

  • Total and partial nudity is prohibited within the workshop, for classes and for jams: nipples, chests and genitals will remain covered.

  • Casual outfits are recommended (no “Fetish” type outfits).

  • No sexual practices or practices associated with BDSM is permitted within Atelier Mae. Only ropes, bamboo, blindfolds and hanging materials are permitted.

  • Rope art is accessible to all people, without discrimination based on race, gender, or body type. We do not allow any discriminatory behaviours within Atelier Mae.

  • The drinks and food provided will be consumed outside of the mats and tatami mats.

  • Shoes and coats will be left at the entrance in a dedicated space.

  • The consumption of drugs or alcohol is prohibited within Atelier Mae.

  • Smoking is prohibited inside the building: an outdoor space is however accessible, in a quiet environment so as not to disturb neighbouring people and activities.

  • Photos and videos are prohibited during classes and jams. However, taking notes or drawings are welcome.

  • The workshop leaders will indicate the start and end of the session during the tuitions: please be attentive and do not keep the other participants waiting for the course to run smoothly.

  • Suspensions are only accessible to people who already have advanced rope practice and have attended the courses required to be able to suspend.

  • Sessions that take place during classes or jams must be subject to the verbalized and informed consent of both partners. Be kind and aware of what ropes practice involves and its risks: to this end, negotiations around sensitive areas (both physical and emotional) will be discussed, and a safe word adopted by both participants. Any behaviorur that plays on gray areas and which is harmful to one of the participants will be punished by immediate exclusion from the rope area.

  • In the event of a physical emergency, do not hesitate to ask for assistance from the managers and staff of Atelier Mae to help you untie someone. Suitable scissors as well as other tools are made available to everyone and remain the property of Atelier Mae.

  • Those responsible for the space will have the right to end a rope session deemed dangerous for its participants or for the physical/emotional integrity of the audience.

  • The jam space is a shared practice space: be aware of your space but also and above all that of the other participants. Everyone will be expected to adopt a respectful and non-intrusive attitude towards others and their equipment. In the same way, a rope session remains a privileged and intimate moment between the protagonists who create it. Never intervene in a session that you are not part of.

  • Finally, be kind and kind to each other. If you notice an inappropriate, dangerous or risky situation, do not hesitate to inform the Atelier Mae managers and staff.
